Designed specifically for the North American market, the Formula S 440P Band Saw has everything hobbyist and larger craft shops need. This versatile machine can handle delicate or tight curved work, and heavy-duty resaw operations. This robust band saw features a 4.8 horsepower single-phase motor, 17.3” resaw height, 16.3” cutting width and large 17.3” flywheel diameter with a 20.47” by 28.34” work table that can tilt up to 45°!
The Formula S 440P comes with upper and lower Europeans-style guides on the machine. These guides provide for quick and easy adjustments without the need for tools. They can be adjusted up or down to accommodate the tilting of the table. When you are not tilting the table, you can raise the guides all the way up to the lower table surface to decrease the distance between your guides, maintaining maximum stability through your cut.
This machine boasts plenty of features. Thick cast iron wheels are perfectly balanced to reduce vibration and produce a fly wheel effect to aid in the processing of your pieces. Heavy-duty steel frames are the most rigid in their class and are designed to withstand the tension required for a carbide tipped blade.
The Formula S 440P also has vulcanized tires that not only bonds the rubber tires to the wheel, but fuses them so they become like one, which means greater transfer of power. This also makes it nearly impossible to shred them if a blade breaks, and there is less wear and maintenance over their lifetime.
Two dust ports are included on this band saw, not just one like most others. This helps ensure that you will capture more debris, more efficiently.

This is a robust machine which would be a great addition to any small furniture shop or wood working hobbyist's garage. Shipping was perfect and saw arrived undamaged. However, ther were some small issues: powder coat was peeling on small are with rust developing under the powder coat, fence casting was flawed with large pit and uneven surface, and table was not machined completely. Logan at OakTree has been professional and kind. He is responsive to all issues and is helping to resolve my problems. I highly recommend OakTree Supplies for all your wood working supply needs. THANK YOU, LOGAN! That said, SCM customer service has not been quick to respond. I filed a complaint and have yet to hear back from SCM after more than a month.
